Swiss Wine Country

Early one Saturday morning in September, we jumped on a train from Geneva to Lavaux to taste some of the local wines.  Up until this point, I was not a big fan of Swiss wine.  I was always disappointed by the local wines served with dinner, usually opting for wine from just about any other region but Switzerland.  After a short time in Lavaux, however, my opinion of Swiss wine was changed forever for the better both by the friendly vineyard owners who welcomed us into their homes for tastings and the excellent wines they served.  I learned that the people of Switzerland consume all the wine their country produces, so almost no Swiss wine reaches us here in the United States.
